Today's Weather - March 4th, 2012

Today’s weather is a huge difference from that of Friday! It’s pretty much going to be cold and windy.

Today should be sunny with a high of around 57 for our area, but very windy. We are under a wind advisory this afternoon, with the primary hazard being strong gusty winds. This wind advisory is in effect from noon today until 6pm this evening. Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph are predicted. The main hazards that are associated with our windy afternoon are weaker trees in the area being brought down, difficulty driving (especially for higher profile vehicles) and unsecured objects being blown around. Please keep these in mind as you enjoy your Sunday afternoon!

Tonight you can expect a low around 38 with mostly clear skies. While the wind advisory is not expected to be in effect tonight, there will be winds around 10 mph with some gusts up to 15 mph.

Also, something important to note as you start your week on Monday morning, there will be a freeze watch in effect. The freeze watch is for Monday night around 9 pm until Tuesday morning around 9 am. A freeze watch means that conditions are favorable for a freeze event in and close to the watch area. If you have plants, crops or young trees that are sensitive to the cold, you should make preparations to protect them. You can expect a high around 57 and a low around 29 for Monday.
